Where Jimi Hendrix was the first artist to fully recognize the value of controlling all major aspects of his music -- from producing and promoting his own tours to outfitting concert venues with better equipment to help enhance his performances -- he also recognized the importance of managing his image in the sale of merchandise. As a result, Jimi's manager, Michael Jeffrey employed Jerry Goldstein's A Visual Thing, a recognized firm who merchandised several top touring acts through the UK, to produce and market a variety of posters and subsequent tour books to the masses. The dramatic photos from this and susequent photos shoots around the island and back in California were the subject of several different product releases.
Following the Raffaelli photo calls, Jimi Hendrix was interviewed at radio station K-POI in Honolulu.
